Discover University Summer School (29 July – 1 August 2024)
About the Summer School
This summer school is fully funded and is available for 60 students in Years 9 to 11 and takes place from Monday 29 July to Thursday 1 August 2024.
Once again, we have partnered with the Higher Education Outreach Network and have reserved 40 places for participants who meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Are a young carer
- Have current or previous experience of living within care
- Are a Surrey Scholar
This opportunity will enable participants to gain an insight into the life of a student within a supportive environment, finding out what it is like to study at university by talking to current university students with similar experiences whilst trying their hand at a range of exciting subjects and activities. During the evenings there will be a variety of social activities held on the University campus, or in the surrounding area.
The summer school runs over four days and three nights and will give participants the opportunity to stay in university accommodation with catering provided. However, we can make arrangements should participants only be able to visit during the day due to caring responsibilities.

How to apply
Applications for the Discover University Summer School are open until Monday 22 April 2024. We will then confirm whether you have received a place on the programme by Friday 10 May. Places are not allocated on a first come, served basis and we will consider previous engagement when oversubscribed.
