Y10 Realise Your Potential

Across January to March, take part on Y10 Realise Your Potential, our sustained Saturday activity, to further understand your options beyond GCSE study. You will be invited to attend a range of subject workshops, career webinars and revision masterclasses, each designed to further inform your own study aspirations and choices. You will then conclude the series by presenting about your experience as part of your Graduation.



Key Dates

Starting on Saturday 17 January 2026, participants will be invited to attend a combination of on-campus and live virtual events on Saturday mornings. The key dates and times for the programme are:

To be accepted onto the programme, you must be in  Year 10 from September 2025 and meet one of the widening participation eligibility criteria. All applicants must also live either in Surrey or within 20 miles of the University of Surrey.

Widening Participation criteria

  • You live in an IMD Decile 1 or 2 postcode*
  • You live in a POLAR4 Quintile 1 postcode**
  • You have received Free School Meals within the last 6 years
  • You have a diagnosed disability or long-term health condition
  • You are a young carer
  • You have experience of living within care
  • You are a forced migrant (a refugee or an asylum-seeking young person)
  • You have a parent who has served in the Armed Forces or as a Reservist
  • You are from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community
*Indices of Multiple Deprivation are commonly used datasets to clarify relative deprivation within smaller areas of the UK.
**POLAR4 classifies progression rates of young people into Higher Education within local areas of the UK.

We offer FREE transport on request for all campus events. Where possible, we arrange pick up for multiple participants outside of your school. If you are unable to attend on dates where you have requested transport, we politely ask that you notify us in advance of the event. Otherwise, we reserve the right to either pass on the charge of cancellation and/or withdraw the offer of transport for future visits.
